This project, located in Big Cedar Estates in College Station, was built in 1998 as a traditional farmhouse-style home. The house has remained unchanged over the years, and our clients were ready to update.

Their main objective is to give the house a modern touch while preserving its original style. Additionally, they are interested in making their bathroom more accessible as they grow older and want to continue living in the house for as long as possible.

In this project, our primary focus was on transforming the kitchen and main bathroom. While the existing kitchen layout was practical, its appearance was significantly outdated. The clients were particularly dissatisfied with the gray laminate countertops and backsplash.

To enhance the kitchen’s aesthetic appeal, we prioritized updating these elements. We replaced the laminate countertops with sleek, pristine white quartz countertops and swapped out the backsplash with classic white subway tiles, which perfectly complement the farmhouse style of the home. Additionally, we installed a modern sink and faucet to complete the updated look.

We also refreshed all the kitchen cabinets with a new coat of paint and updated the knobs and pulls. During our discussions about their desired ambiance, the clients preferred a “comfortable and casual” feel. Inspired by a pair of well-worn jeans and a mason jar displayed in the space, we chose a soft faded navy blue for the cabinets to introduce a striking splash of color.

The white countertops and backsplash were strategically chosen to balance and soften the impact of the blue, preventing it from overwhelming the space. Additionally, the gray grout harmonizes beautifully with the satin nickel finishes of the new cabinet hardware and sink faucet, resulting in a cohesive and appealing design that resonates perfectly with the client’s vision.

The primary bathroom underwent a remarkable transformation during this project. Initially, it featured a cramped, traditional prefabricated shower and an oversized jetted tub that the clients rarely used. To optimize the space and enhance functionality, we made substantial changes. We removed both the shower and the bathtub, allowing us to construct a spacious, tiled, curbless shower in their place.

The new shower not only offers improved accessibility but also incorporates additional storage with three sleek metal shower shelves. We opted for white subway tile on the walls to maintain the farmhouse aesthetic of the home and establish a visual connection with the kitchen’s design. This renovation has completely revitalized the bathroom, offering both style and practicality to the clients.

We completely enhanced the functionality and accessibility of the primary bathroom by removing the door to the water closet and replacing the toilet with a new universal-height model for easier access. As part of our commitment to incorporating aging-in-place features, we installed new grab bars in the shower area. Additionally, we updated the space with practical details like new towel hooks, a fresh toilet paper holder, and cabinet pulls that match those in the kitchen. The sink faucets were also replaced for a cohesive look.

To refresh the overall look, we laid down new white and gray floor tiles in the main bath area. The walls received a fresh coat of neutral beige paint, while the cabinets, doors, and trim were painted in a crisp, bright white finish, tying everything together seamlessly. These thoughtful updates have not only improved the aesthetics but also ensured greater convenience and comfort for the homeowners.

It has been immensely gratifying to transform this home for our clients. We took pride in refreshing the kitchen to enhance its comfort and beauty while preserving the home’s unique style. Creating a functional and enduring bathroom was equally fulfilling, knowing it will serve them well for years to come and support their desire to remain in their home longer.

Seeing our clients thrilled with the outcome was truly rewarding, and we thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with them to bring their vision to life. Building spaces that not only meet but exceed their expectations was a delight for our team. Are you ready to bring your home remodeling vision to life?
